About MagZIn 2007, Megan (aka: Mags) gave up her corporate job in advertising to pursue her dream of starting up MagZ-BagZ - a funky lifestyle bag company that caters to the style and needs of busy moms and women struggling to “do it all.” The idea for MagZ-BagZ took shape in 2004 after giving birth to her first child. She grew tired of waking every morning only to say good-bye to her son before embarking on the long commute to Toronto. Ironically, it was during that daily train ride, surrounded by women clutching their dull brown and black purses, that she became inspired to design bags that would burst with colour and personality to match its wearer. Now in her fifth year of business, Megan thrives in the entrepreneurial world and would never trade her old commute for her new one (from her bedroom to her downstairs office.) Although challenging at times, she is better able to balance her busy family life – her husband and two children, one rabbit, two birds, and three iguanas – with her flexible work schedule. Megan’s philosophy behind her designs is simple: to create bags that accommodate all of life’s occasions in colourful and bold designs that reflect the personality of the carrier. Megan is constantly re-defining her collections to offer more styles and options for the modern woman who has to switch roles on the fly: mother, boss, school volunteer, wife. With MagZ-BagZ, she can do it in style. “Talking with customers and suppliers gives me inspiration for new styles, new colours, new markets, and new challenges. Meeting other entrepreneurial mothers has also had a huge impact on my business. I am blown away by their positive stories and wowed by the number of talented women out there! My experience as an entrepreneur has made me extremely grateful for my life and my opportunity to follow my dreams. I wish this for everyone who wants to improve their lives and make their dreams a reality.” To enable women and girls around the world to pursue their dreams, a portion of all Lunch Sakz sales goes to Care Canada. |
